Our mission is to improve insurance literacy in students and attract new talent to the industry.
InVEST, a school-to-work insurance program, teams with high school and college educators to provide a useful insurance curriculum for students. With the help of InVEST liaisons (insurance professionals), students could have the opportunity for job shadow days, internships or even careers after graduating from InVEST.
Founded in 1970 at Hollywood High School by the Independent Insurance Agents of Los Angeles, InVEST began educating students in insurance to become better insurance consumers. Over the years, it has expanded to also teach insurance agency and company operations and encourage students to pursue careers in the industry.
InVEST Benefits the Insurance Industry:
Opportunities for insurance professionals to interact with students are established by InVEST working with educators in the schools. InVEST volunteers, agency and company representatives; work closely with teachers so students get a real-life perspective of the insurance industry. Through these efforts, InVEST is able to spread the message about insurance and become a resource for educators.
Here in Central Florida, the IIACF has been working in both Boone and Dr. Phillips High Schools in Orlando with plans to move into Seminole County School s next year. In the middle of March we invite the students that have participated in the program to a special Breakfast in their honor. At that time High School Seniors that have excelled in the program find out if they are one of the many recipients of a scholarship. Our biggest scholarship sponsored by the IIACF and Trusted Choice is for $1,000 with others sponsored by the Central Florida Chapter of the CPCU Society and various insurance companies and agencies.
If you are interested in being a part of this special program as a volunteer, scholarship donor or are interested in hiring a student from the IIACF InVEST Program please contact Erica Ostrander at the association office or email@example.com.
